Sunday Morning is on the Move

starting September 11th

September 11th begins a new schedule of worship services and Sunday School. The new Sunday schedule is:

Not sure what service is right for you? Find out more information on each service below.
8:00 a.m. - Rite I Holy Eucharist
The 8:00 a.m. worship service follows the traditional language of the Book of Common Prayer. The music includes traditional hymns and organ.

9:00 a.m. - Rite II Holy Eucharist
The newest addition to St. Luke’s, the 9:00 a.m. worship service will be a Rite II Holy Eucharist, but it will be different from what we do at 11:00 a.m. It is not a children’s service, but it will be designed to recognize and minister the presence of children and youth in the congregation. We will incorporate children and youth in worship ministries such as serving as acolytes, reading scripture, ushering, and leading the prayers. We will use the Prayer Book. The sermon will address both adults and children. The service will be shorter – 45 minutes. The music will include traditional hymns but will use piano instead of organ. Because of time constraints there will be fewer verses sung and a little less music. Instead of using the high altar, we will use the altar from the Christ the King Chapel and place it at the crossing at the bottom of the chancel steps. We plan to have “take home” suggestions and opportunities for families and individuals to put their faith into action throughout the week.

10:00 a.m. - Sunday School for all ages
We will continue to offer an excellent menu of options for Sunday School for all ages. Sunday School classes will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. each Sunday. For information on our Sunday School classes, click here.

11:00 a.m. - Rite II Holy Eucharist
The 11:00 a.m. worship service will be just like what have done at 10:30 a.m. We will just shift the time schedule to 11:00 a.m. It will continue to be a Rite II Holy Eucharist with our wonderful choir and pipe organ. We will still offer children’s chapel for this service.

6:00 p.m. - Rite II Holy Eucharist
The 6:00 p.m. service mirrors the 11:00 a.m. service in readings and message. The 6:00 p.m. service does not have music. It will continue to include an option to receive healing prayers at the conclusion of the service.
